Bat file to update the Public AntiVirus CD
Last Update 17-July-06
Sadly support for Public AntiVirus has ended but it is possible to continue using this tool if you keep it updated. This is a simply bat file to update the Public Antivirus CD with all the latest definition updates.
You now have a choice of 4 bat files to run, however the bat file must be in the folder PAVUpdat, when you extract the contents this folder be automatically created and must be within the public Antivirus folder structure.
The C bat files are hard coded to c:\PublicAV
CPublicAVupdate.bat = will update the original components of the CD.
CCustomPublicAVupdate.bat = will add additional tools as well as update the original components. The news tools added will appear in a folder called WinTools - Added tools are DrWeb CureIT, KASFX (Kaspersky AV based removal tool), Trend Micros Sysclean (copy to hdd before running) and Sophos's dos and 32bit command line scanner. Trend Micros Spyware removal tool will also be added to the spyware folder + others. You will also be able to install AntiVir, Avast and AVG from the CD. You can also now take hdd images and clone your drive via Drive Image XML. Also added are RootKitty and EZPCFix.
Create a folder called PublicAV on your CD drive. File path should be c:\PublicAV if not you will have to edit the bat file to alter the following - set PublicAV=c:\PublicAV if you don't the bat file won't work.
CustomPublicAVupdate.bat = will add additional tools as well as update the original components. The news tools added will appear in a folder called WinTools - Added tools are DrWeb CureIT, Trend Micros Sysclean (copy to hdd before running) and Sophos's dos and 32bit command line scanner. You will also be able to install AntiVir, Avast and AVG from the CD.
The D&D (Drag and Drop) D&DPublicAVupdate bat files allow the user to drag the folder name from Windows Explorer into the dos box so any folder location can be used. NB Avoid long file paths and names with spaces - ie don't use C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents
Extract the file pavupdat.exe into this folder.
Mini download - 7zip self
extracting file 18.6mb
This is not a working ISO file, most of the files have been removed and is just
the folder structure. You will need to run the bat file before it can be
of any use. To get a
working ISO you will need to download approx 60-70mb via the updater, this is
significantly more if you choose the custom updater.
Note this is a archive version Public AV is no longer
supported/updated so YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE IT for it to be of any use
Extract the contents of the zip, extract the contents of the ISO (FREE: ISOBuster,
IZArc,
Zip Genius,
ALZip Paid For:
Winrar, will all
extract ISO's) into the folder c:\PublicAV
You should now see the following file structure in the above folder:
